We’re proud to partner with One Tree Planted, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit dedicated to global reforestation. They plant trees to restore nature and biodiversity. They also raise awareness about the importance of trees, offer businesses like ours a simple sustainability solution, and motivate younger generations to do something positive for the environment.
This month, we’re supporting their project in Malawi. They will be planting indigenous forest trees in cooperation with the support of local communities who will receive well water pumps and fruit trees. The goal of this project is to decrease pressure on mature indigenous forest, provide firewood for local communities and thereby end the endless cycle of women carrying firewood for miles. This will also improve the microclimate and provide some of the typical benefits of a forest such as soil erosion prevention, firewood, milder temperatures, and humidity management. The tree species that will be planted include Albiza Versicolor, Senegalia Polyacantha, Afzelia Quanzensis, Khaya Nyasica, Faidherbia Albida, Terminalia Sericea, Tephrosia Vogelii, Pterocarpus Angolensis, Acacia galpinii / Senegalia galpinii, Erythrophleum, Albizia Adianthifolia, Sesbania Sesban, Ziziphus Abyssinica, Piliostigma/Bauhinia Thonningii, and more.
