APRIL KNITCRATE featured Juniper Moon Farm, a REAL farm located in the rolling hills of Virginia. Susan Gibbs founded this farm in 2007 and she cultivates the yarn from her own flock as well as yarn from fibers grown in Peru, Argentina, Nepal, and Italy. Each KnitCrate (our “main” package) included 3 skeins of Herriot in 6 possible colorway combinations. Herriot is a YUMMY 100% Baby Alpaca yarn, supple and squishy soft! We happily paired this yarn with 2 patterns included with the April KnitCrate:
1. The Chevron Cowl, a stunning pattern by Shannon Sanchez, owner of the Inskein Yarn Shop in Andrea’s hometown of San Antonio, TX!!
2. The Winnekenni Beret pattern, featuring an elegant lace and cable pattern
APRIL KNITCRATE INDIE took a journey with Chicago-based Mrs. Crosby Loves To Play, which has fun travel themed yarn names and a travel inspired blog that make for a wonderful collaboration. Every KnitCrate Indie received 2 skeins of the Carpet Bag base, a Merino and Silk blend in 1 of 4 different colorway possibilities. We perfectly paired this yarn with Yuki H.S.’ pattern, The ZigZag Scarf. Yuki’s mission is admirable and heart-warming as all proceeds of this pattern were donated to the Minoru Hokari Memorial Scholarship Fund at the Australian National University in honor of here late brother, Minoru Hokari (“Mino” 1971-2004) who died of cancer at the young age of 32. The scholarship fund supports young scholars who study Indigenous Australians through fieldwork. Knitting with a wonderful cause!
APRIL KNITCRATE SOCK AND SOCK ADD-ON received a skein of Train Case in a Merino, Nylon and Viscose blend perfect for soft and cozy socks that will be long lasting. 14 different colorways were featured in the April KnitCrate Sock. We paired this lovely yarn with Becky Greene’s Rapunzel’s Tower Sock Pattern. Becky Greene is a stunning designer with crisp, fresh and elegant patterns. She is also the author of Greenthumb’s Blog which is chalk full of lovely ideas and featured patterns.
APRIL KNITCRATE MINIS AND MINIS ADD-ON included 14 different possible colorways in 30-yard hanks in the hand dyed Train Case Base. Knitting ideas are limitless, like a great journey!
April’s Sweet/Soothing Extra was exquisite handcrafted soap made by a family owned business, Thrive Handcrafts. Over 10 different possible scents were shipped and harked of a Spring awakening. Thrive Handcrafts collaborates with Mrs. Crosby’s Loves To Play in pairing yarn with handmade goods.
April’s Fun Extra was an elegant and useful luggage tag by Mrs. Crosby’s Loves to Play that states, “Everyone has baggage darling, grace is determined by how one chooses to carry it.” How true and a wonderful reminder to be at our best at all times!
