The yarn this month should be familiar to long-time Knitcraters, it’s Heels & Toes by Uru.Yarn! This is an 80% Superwash Merino Wool, 20% Nylon blend that is space-dyed or block-dyed to give a certain color order: purple, burgundy, and then purple again. You’ll have 400 yards per skein, divided kind of like this (give or take a little): 100 yards purple, 200 yards burgundy, 100 yards purple.
This method for dyeing is kind of cool, in that you can cast on two magic loop, two-at-a-time socks, start at the cuff or heel, and work both ends of the same skein and get identical socks! You can also divide the yarn up into little individual balls and play with colorwork. For lots of ideas be sure to look at this yarn’s projects on Ravelry.
The colorway is called Shield Bug and is inspired by this very cool looking insect:
The pattern this month is by designer Stephanie Voyer and is called Undergrass. It has really cool construction and faux-lace sort of panels and short row shaping, but it’s not super hard, just interesting, so don’t be intimidated.
This month’s Sock Crate also comes with a fun extra: a tiny tin full of blossom stitch markers from Rebecca’s Room on Etsy:
