August is the epitome of cool, with a truly incredible colorway from Dragonfly Fibers. While it looks blue and purple in equal measure here, Metamorphosis, a custom dye just for this box, has extraordinary depth, pops of pink and even mustard, and looks utterly gorgeous knit up.
The crate comes with a Sashiko-inspired tote bag you can embroider on top of for added affect (use a double-strand of your leftovers and a sharp needle to do this for a really cool variegated stitch)! We designed it specifically for this crate.
The patterns really show off the yarn this month. Both are designed by Jen Lucas. The Beginner pattern is Chain Reaction, a cowl that features slipped stitches that you can knit in one skein, or double the cast on for a larger, double-loop cowl using two skeins.
The second pattern is Bee the Change, a unique ‘butterfly’ shaped shawl with a mix of textured and lace stitches. This was so much fun to style and the model, Jess, loved it! This is also a one-skein project that can easily be increased–so you can make one, both patterns this month, or make two of the same and give one as a gift for the holidays (I know, I know, but when you make things, you have to think about it early)!
We think you are going to LOVE this crate and we can’t wait to see what you’re making. We’ll be sharing ideas for alternative projects and having an ongoing KAL for the month in our Ravelry group. If you haven’t signed on for this fantastic crate, find it here.
