We’re having a little video technical difficulty this month, so will be linking the reveal video in a later post!
It’s time for August’s Sock Crate reveal. This month, our theme was Take Wing, inspired by birds, feathers, and sky. The colorways in each of the crates have been named and dyed with specific birds in mind. For Sock Crate, we’re introducing a new base: Knitologie Incline Sock, a 75% Superwash Merino, 25% Nylon yarn with 439 yards per 100 g skein. Let’s take a look at all three beautiful colorways!
The bright little Rufous Backed Kingfisher bird inspired our Energize Me colorway this month, a riot of bright orange, gold, fuschia and hot purple:
Explore the darker side with our All Natural colorway, inspired by the way the light hits a black Raven’s wings in tones of blue-black, navy, indigo and silvery gray:
We’ve also got a bird who needs desperately to Chill Out, the Pygmy Tyrant. This territorial, rumpled little fellow could certainly do with some crafting time!
Our patterns this month are from the talented Abbey Swanson and Kim Driggs, and perfectly capture plumage and the excitement of fluttering wings! Stay tuned for a closer look at each pattern and the designers’ inspiration as we move through the month here on the blog.
Each Sock Crate also comes with a great extra, but we’re keeping it a secret until they begin to arrive (we’ve got to keep it a surprise sometimes to keep the fun going, right?) You can share your extra and excitement with us on the Ravelry group, where we’re already dreaming about these crates!
