My name is Julie, and I am a crochet designer & instructor. Im excited by the Knitcrate Contemporary box because I love Marie Segares & her crochet patterns; and I also love crochet cables!
Reading through Marie Segares cabled clutch pattern, I immediately thought that some of you might wonder what locking stitch markers are, so I made a little video explanation:
Im a huge fan of using stitch markers for much more than simply marking the top of turning chains! When we work crochet cables, we work around the posts of our stitches, rather than their tops. This leaves those tops free to make us work in the wrong space when we are done with a cable. See my tip for using stitch markers before starting a cable, in order to prevent mistakes that require frogging.
Heres something Id never seen before: closing that unsightly gap around standard crochet cables! I really must thank Marie for this one: by working through the skipped stitch & the 1st fpdc of the cable, you effectively make the gap go away! In this video, youll see how I use my stitch marker to make it easier to spot the gap-closing sc hiding behind our fpdc.
I simply love learning new things to make my crochet pieces always more beautiful.
