Did you know that oranges are considered a traditional holiday gift? An orange in the toe of your stocking was a common way to celebrate the holiday season, and still is for many people. Sweet, bright, and special, oranges of all types (blood oranges, clementines, mandarins and navel) are glowing symbols of happiness and celebration. This month’s Artisan Crate dyer, The Yarnbrary, was inspired by this traditional gift to create this month’s colorway, Copperfield, on their delightfully soft Baby Alpaca, Silk, and Wool blend, Fantasy Worsted.
Our designer gave us a treat this month, too, with not two, but three adorable hat patterns. The best part? You can get all three out of the two skeins included with your kit!

Parallu is a spiraling, cheery topper (especially with a pom pom!):
And intricate Fascicles is a fun way to play with stitches:
This month’s Artisan Crate also comes complete with a handy pom-pom maker, so you’ll be able to create some jaunty poms for each of your hats, a pom-pom garland for your house, or cheery pom-poms to top off your packages! Join us for more December fun in the Ravelry group, where we have a knit-a-long for these fantastic hats, or whatever other projects you’ll be casting on with the December crate.
