Yesterday, we revealed what’s on the way in this month’s Membership Crates, and today we’re tackling our Sock Crate! The monthly Sock Crate is a great way to get a small taste of indie dyed yarn without a big investment. A single skein is sometimes all you need to add to your stash, enliven a project or brighten your day. (Plus, sock yarn doesn’t really count as stash, right?)
This month’s featured sock dyer is Fyberspates, a UK based company that features beautiful, hand-dyed colorways that are wonderfully consistent and reliable. If you’re looking for a go-to sock yarn without any synthetics, we can’t recommend this Vivacious 4-ply enough. 100% Superwash Merino is plied and twisted just right to make for a durable sock yarn without the nylon. Trust us - this yarn will hold up beautifully for socks.
We chose three colorways that matched our Petrichor theme this month: Verdigris: a dark earthen tone, Deep Aqua: a rich, bright blue, and Grape: a blend of fruity violets.
What better way to celebrate a box themed around a scent, than with three samples of Soak wool-wash, ideal for the care and keeping of socks? We love Soak washes for our hand-knits, and these single packs are great for gifting to less savvy gift recipients, too.
The pattern for this box is called Omma’s Tears, and is designed by Suzanne Sjogren. This beautifully lacy sock might seem tricky at first, but we’ve got friends on-hand in our Ravelry group to help us out this month as we navigate the twists and turns of this beautiful sock. Don’t be afraid - come join us!
Thinking of getting a Sock Crate all your own? They’re not sold out (yet), and you can still nab one here!
