What better project to cast on for the new year than a pair of socks? Socks are our go-to, in-between project, perfect for working on when a sweater is too big to carry along or we just need a moment to think about something other than work. Theyre a little soothing and a little calming, and that makes them perfect for our January Theme, Sleepy New Year.
Its not too often that you get pretty blue skies in the middle of winter, and that can really wear on you! We wanted to share some of that promise of blue skies, promise of Spring ahead, no matter where you are or what your climate is, with this months colorway, Robins Promise, a soft, Robins egg blue, dyed on our new Ambient Sock Vidalana base.
Like the worsted weight version featured in this months Membership Crates, bouncy yarn features Peruvian Highland wool, a cross between Merino and Corriedale. At 80% wool and 20% nylon, this has a little extra pep, making for a great sock yarn that is fun to knit with. The roundness makes it great for cables, as perfectly illustrated by Laura Fahlins beautiful Winter Light sock pattern:
Youll note that in the booklet for the crate, we werent able to include both the charted and written instructions due to space (just the charts), but we have talked to Laura and are able to offer you the complete (charts & written versions) in the e-book format but also as a PDF (non-Ravelry) download. Use the URL in the Table of Contents section of your booklet to access these patterns. We made sure the PDF version also is oriented so the charts are larger and easy to read on your tablet or home printouts.
So slip these socks on the needles and set 2019 off on the right foot!
