It’s June already, and we have a great crate planned to send you! This month’s theme is Calico and is inspired by soft florals, tiny posies, clover and patchwork quilts (with a KnitCrate twist, of course!)
We’ve designed a brand new yarn for you to try in this crate, Aloft is a 48% Merino Wool, 32% Organic Pima Cotton, and 20% Baby Alpaca blend that is chainette-plied, meaning that each strand is like a tiny braid that gives each stitch amazing definition. There are two colorways.
Tiger Lily, a creamsicle orange:
Wee Violets, a soft royal purple:
The patterns this month are both designed by Susan Lowman, who is just the best to work with and we love how she reflected the textures in both patterns! First, our knitting pattern, Rows of Lavender, is a crescent shawl with a dainty picot edge, faux cables and twisted stitches:
Next, the crochet pattern, Golden Afternoon features front and back post crochet stitches and plays with openwork to create neat diagonal panels across the scarf. Note: the printed booklet features the wrong chart, and the digital version (available through your Table of Contents page in the booklet) is updated with the correct crochet chart:
There’s also an extra in this crate (and there will be an extra in Membership from here on out!) This month we’re sending you a fabric-covered, retractable tape measure. On one side it has English measurements and on the other, Metric. The fabric used is a print of sweet little village houses that is such a good fit with this month’s theme.
