May 2018 Artisan Crate Reveal

It’s always fun to see how each dyer chooses to interpret the monthly theme. This month’s Contemporary theme had a colorful mood board, but most of our boxes ended up fairly muted and classic. Not in the Artisan Crate, though! This crate, dyed by the talented hands at Fleece Artist, who created a vibrant, beautiful colorway on their Tree Wool: a blend of 70% Superwash Merino and 30% Tencel. Each skein has a generous 355 yards.

The rich riot of cerulean blues, deep mallard teal, faded pink, and rusty orange looks especially amazing when knit up into the three (yes, you read that right, three), patterns included in this month’s shipment. All designed by Kari-Helene Rane, these patterns each highlight how these colors play and interact.

Go for a traditional variegated look with the tight cables and textured stitches featured in the Litz Beret and Litz Gloves:

Or, create secret, prismatic patterns with the colors in the large-scale wrap, Axis:

We’ve also included the buttons needed to edge Axis in this kit as an extra (but they’ll double up beautifully as cardigan buttons, should you decide to make something else with the yarn).

We think you’re going to love this month’s Artisan Crate. Pop over to our Ravelry group and be sure to share when yours arrives, and participate in our ongoing knit-a-long. See you there!
