November 2020 Reveals
Oh, the colors we’re celebrating this month! Let’s check them out!
For November, we are thrilled to have crochet and knit designer Vincent Williams of Visuvio’s Crafts as our influencer partner! One of the first things that Vincent discovered on his maker journey was a lack of accessory options for tall guys in particular, and overly feminine designs and colors. Motivated by this, his affinity for colors inspired by nature, and his love of quality handmade apparel and accessories, Vincent created Visuvio’s Crafts where he creates the most beautiful knit and crochet designs that have great appeal to both men and women. You can’t help but be inspired by his designs as they evoke feelings of warmth and peace, and you can see the great love and attention he puts into every detail.
We are excited to be working with Vincent this month and can’t wait to share his design for our Membership Crate with you!

The theme for this month is Chiaroscuro, the artistic effect that makes use of the strong contrasts between light and dark, and was made popular by the artists Leonardo da Vinci, Caravaggio and Rembrandt. With this as inspiration, our crates follow the same thoughtful, pensive mood that a late autumn month brings to mind: deep violets, soft spruce greens, rich charcoal, and natural neutrals.

Now let’s meet this month’s yarn! Click below to watch the full reveal on Youtube.

All Natural
This All Natural color set has us thinking of after dinner walks in the woods where the golden sun cuts through various browns from the trees, and the littlest bit of blue sky that lingers as the peace of the evening settles in.

Bottom (L to R): Gouache, Sfumato

Membership Patterns
Knit Membership Pattern
This month’s knit pattern comes from Hortense Maskens / Knitting with Chopsticks. This sweater is a cute classic raglan baby sweater with irregular stripes that remind me of the growth rings on trees. And just like growth rings on a tree, babies grow in leaps! The simple stockinette stitch leaves room for the different colors and their combinations to shine. Knit on double pointed needles from the top down with minimal shaping, it’s a great pattern for beginners looking to expand their skills.

Crochet Membership Pattern
Our influencer partner, Vincent Williams of Visuvio’s Crafts, created a colorwork treat for crocheters! The Veining Beanie is inspired by the silhouette of bat wings, movement of ethereal flowing fabrics, and textures of the place where the sky and land meet on the horizon. It’s worked seamlessly in the round from the top-down and introduces two colorwork techniques to crocheters: fair isle and intarsia. These two techniques bring the interdigital webbing and linear skeletal structure of bat wings to life.

This pattern involves very little sewing, as the side panels are worked directly onto the front panels, and everything is crocheted together. All you have to do is sew on the straps.
