Say it with me: Amigurumi!

Little amigurumi creatures always bring a smile to my face. These stuffed figures are fun to make and are the perfect little gifts to give.

To me, crocheted amigurumi is an artistic expression that’s like no other. I’m always in awe of amigurumi designers and the great detail the put into their designs. The finished figures are three dimensional art pieces that are like having drawings or caricatures that you can hold in your hand. Also, they don’t take too much yarn to create. Just a few bits and pieces left over from various projects can become your next crochet endeavor.

I’ve been drawn to more amigurumi designs lately and I found a few that you won’t want to miss.

Ice Cream Monster Amigurumi by Yuna Fadeeva

This sweet little ice cream cone is the perfect beginner amigurumi figure. I love how the sample here uses self-striping yarn, and the face is simply just two sewn on black beads for eyes. This would be fun to make for small gathering party favors.

Colour Pop Chameleon by Irene Strange

This little guy is fun! This is another fun amigurumi project where using self-striping yarn adds to the look. There are also instructions for making a 2-color chameleon if you prefer. Perfect to make for kids or your favorite reptile-loving friend.

Frida Kahlo by Lorena Flores

Calling all art lovers! This amazing little figure pays homage to the Mexican artist Frida Kahlo. I love the little details like her iconic eyebrows, hanging earrings, and flowers in her hair. A little rouge on the cheeks completes this replica.

Legna Cat by Madelenón Crochet Design

Who wouldn’t want to cuddle this sleepy kitty? This adorable design has many of its pieces made in the round and can be made in a number of colors. This is another great pattern for an amigurumi beginner that will have you wanting to make one for yourself and your cat loving friends.

Magical Mermaid Doll by Victoria Stewart

This sweet little mermaid design is waiting to be stitched up and loved! This is another amigurumi that takes a little more yardage, but it’s mostly for the mermaid’s hair. Get creative by making the tail with a self-striping yarn or two contrasting colors. One of the samples uses a bit of novelty yarn for extra fun. Endless options!

Amigurumi Daffodil Bulb by Irina

I dare you to look at this pattern and not smile. This little Daffodil Bulb reminds me of Dr. Seuss’s Daisy-Head Mayzie and is the perfect little pick me up to give a friend. This lovable amigurumi has a simple face that is perfect and charming.
