Know what’s scary? Publishing your first knitting pattern! It took a lot to hit publish and release a creative idea into the wild when I went to release Irish Whiskey back in March of 2016, but I’m so glad I did. The incredible journey it set me on has been truly amazing. I have found my calling. I’ve learned a lot about knitwear design and pattern writing over the years, and I’m forever grateful for the urging and support I had from those around me who encouraged me to write my first one.
Worked in the round, Irish Whiskey contains written directions and a chart for the pattern stitch. Instructions are for both cuff-down and toe-up. If you feel inclined to make 2 in the same direction, that’s completely acceptable, or one of each if you’re feeling particularly topsy-turvy! Irish Whiskey features 7 sizes. You’ll also find a sock worksheet, so you know how to measure your foot to achieve a perfect fit. Irish Whiskey has directions for an afterthought heel, but you may substitute whatever heel you enjoy using.
The pattern is written for the magic loop method for knitting socks; however, the pattern notes do contain details should you wish to use double-pointed needles instead.
