Ode to Autumn is a rectangular wrap, knit from one end to the other, using two skeins of fingering weight yarn and a skein of mohair lace.
This Autumn wrap is third in the four-shawl collection, Four Seasons, and draws its name and inspiration from one of John Keats’ finest poems, To Autumn. In this poem, Keats personifies the autumn season as a harvester and friend of the sun. In three stanzas, the Keats describes the different aspects of the season – growth, harvest and finally decline/death. The poem is rich in imagery and exhorts us to enjoy the transitory and short-lived beauty of the season before the dreary winter sets in.
