Long winters demand cozy mittens! Thrummed mittens combine the warmth of traditional wool mittens with the extra insulation of wool fleece. These mitts are stuffed with a generous amount of fleece and use a clever insertion technique to lock the thrums securely inside the mitts.
The thrums are inserted in a staggered pattern, which looks pretty on the outside, but also ensures that they are evenly distributed to create a fleecy lining inside the mitts. The thrums will eventually matt together to create a dense fabric which is warm, snug and comfortable.
The pattern offers 3 sizes and includes tutorials for preparation and insertion of thrums.
